FIRST ATLANTIC STORM OF THE SEASON MAY BE FORMING

The Atlantic Ocean could see its first named storm of the hurricane season in a day or two as a tropical wave off the west coast of Africa gains strength, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said Thursday.
The energy market is focused on the tropical wave, located about 250 miles south of the Cape Verde Islands, because it has potential for significant development as it marches across the Atlantic at 10 to 15 miles per hour during the next two weeks.

NEW RADIOHEAD SONG LEAKS

A purported new Radiohead song called “These Are My Twisted Words” mysteriously hit the Web yesterday. Fansite Atease was first to discover the song, which spread like wildfire throughout the night. The source of the song is unclear, but judging by the video below, the track is unmistakably Radiohead, as Thom Yorke’s trademark croon emerges after two and a half minutes of Krautrock build-up that echo In Rainbows‘ “Weird Fishes/Arpeggi.” Radiohead have not yet commented on the song.

GUITAR LEGEND LES PAUL DIES AT 94

Les Paul, one of the most revered guitarists in history and the father of the electric guitar, passed away last night, August 12th at the age of 94. Paul’s manager confirmed to Rolling Stone that cause of death was respiratory failure, and a statement from Gibson indicates Paul was suffering from severe pneumonia and died at a hospital in White Plains, New York.

Playwright David Mamet, whose works often revolve around cutthroat men who use bruising dialogue, will write a screenplay about Holocaust victim Anne Frank, the Walt Disney Co said on Wednesday.
